Have slaved over a hot keyboard for weeks tuning and refining our clients site to the point were it now ranks as No1 out of over 400,000 Altavista.com results for my clients agreed top search phrase.

But is that good enough..oh no...

My boss seemed indifferent to this achievement, so I'm posting the news here were I hope it will be greeted with more understanding.....

No rest for the wicked.

Sorry but I may be big headed. I am a lover of AV but with it's current index I have no problems getting to number one. It just seems any technique will do, even with competitive keywords.

Also Chris ;)

Chris,

all depends if AV sends any traffic to your site.

We rank very high on most of our keywords on AV, but I can not remember when we last had a sale from a surfer clicking on 1 of our search results.

Ah, so that's why everybody sits on #1 ... ;)

Congrats, chrisforeman2 - now onwards to Google!

If it was that easy how come you slaved away for weeks!

Seriously, Altavista wont send you much traffic so now learn how to do it for Google!

We aren't trying to take away from your acheivement, but merely pointing out the benefits of the same rankings in Google are much more rewarding. Congrats!

Chris
#13 in Google will bring far more business than AV. Bit more polishing and maybe top 10 soon?

DOn't you listen to these guys chrisforeman2, Well done. There was a time when everybody wanted to be where you are. O.K. so now nobody is interested, LOL, but I'm sure you have a far better idea of good SEO and are ready to tackle the 'king of kings' (or 'bot of bots', though not the same ring about it :) )
Let us know how you progress.....

I know I have been spending too much time sitting at a computer when something like this makes me laugh. Sad

Chris - congrats on the top 13! Keep it up. Your bosses attitude serves as a timely reminder that sales are more important to bosses than rankings (sometimes!)

Excellent work, Chris.

We'll expect a post when you're number one on Google too!

No rest for the wicked

At least not until retirement. ;)
