First of all, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Secondly...take the time to read through this site. You will not find a better collection of tips anywhere on the Web or in Books. Trust me, I've tried!

I definitly agree with ScottM.
If you want a little introduction to SEO read some tutorials about it at, i.e, spiderfood.net. The information there is a little bit out of date but it can be helpfull if you don't know too much.

After that start reading all the threads in these forums. Start with the classics in the Library and ask to some folks (the mods here use to link to really interesting old topics), keep your eyes over the board and in a few months you will know a lot of things.
