I was going to promote my site through Google AdWords, but the Traffic estimator spit out this ridiculous dollar amount of $43,000.00 per day! There's no way I can afford that. Anyway, I keep reading about something called the Webby Awards in a bunch of different forums. Have any of you heard about this? I heard that if you submit your site and win, you gain ultimate exposure for your site. Sounds good to me, but I've never heard of it until just the other day. The site is http://www.webbyawards.com/main/ Let me know what you think. I'm looking for some real feedback before I go through with this. The deadline is Dec. 20th, so don't wait to give me your opinion about this. I just might submit my site :-).

Atleast adwords will give you something for $150. It is a gamble with awards. I would suggest you give it a pass as far as trying to use it for advertising. If you are trying to prove something or get a feather in your cap then do it. Not worth that much just to have a shot at an inbound link IMHO.

Thanks for the reply. I do think part of it would be to win the award though. I would love to be able to say that I won a Webby if it's something I can brag about. That's really what I'm trying to find out. Is it something worth bragging about, or is it just another award. Thanks again!

My personal opinion would be that it's just another nothing, I mean really, who cares..?

Better off spending your valuable time on making a great site that people will link to. ;)

Are you interested in 'bragging rights' or getting targetted traffic to your site to sell something?

If you'd like to sell something, imho, skip the award - the traffic could be rubbish. :)

$150 = 1500 clicks at .10 cents a click, and you can easily achieve a price like that through any number of avenues of CPC advertising.

Adwords will let you get started quickly, too - you'd have to wait a while on the award thingy...

Who knows? If you spend you bucks on the adwords, then you might make enough profit to justify buying more adwords and the award program...if you *really must*.

Do let us know, though - if you just spend it on the award, I'd like to know how it turns out for you.

Oh, besides, nobody goes by googles traffic estimator and the cool thing about google is you can choose how much traffic you can afford.

For one of my campaign groups, google tells me that I will need near a $1000 to maximize (which I set my budget at) but I don't think I have ever broke $200 in cost and all the ads get a decent click through.

Awards are a bust. I can think of quite a few websites that got lots of awards who now exist only in the memories of dot commers of the 1990's.

Is it something worth bragging about, or is it just another award.

That would depend. I've seen some of the best sites on the web there. I've also seen sites which have won in the weird category that are downright discomforting.
