If you had a very limited number of hours to devote to boosting ones traffic, what would you do.
I am currently trying to determine what the best strategy is to achieve a boost in traffic. Do I focus on submitting to alternate directories, or do I try to get more links from relevent and complimentary sites?
The site is in the ODP, Yahoo, has been optimized, has a few links, good content pages etc.

So if you have say twenty hours at the keyboard, to devote to the problem, what would you do?
Thanks, Duhboy.

Unless you've discovered a way to get free energy, erm I mean free widgets, you shouldn't expect people to just visit your site...

This ain't Field of Dreams("If you build it, they will come,") you've got three choices: network (build links), buy clicks, or do both.

Close jimbo_mac, but I prefer a company check :)

Seriously, the answer is it depends.

It depends on what your time is worth. If you're worth $200/hr, hire someone good for $100/hr or $50/hr.

It depends on if you just need short term results. If so, focus exclusively on PPC & maybe PFI.

It depends on how competitive your market looks to be. If it's very competitive, 20 hours may just scratch the surface. If it's not competitive, you may be able to get some nice results with much less than 20 hrs.

What Slade said.

Good luck,

Thanks all
I appreciate the help. We are aware that PPC or PFI is inevitable. This is IMHO where the true cost of the internet is coming in.

Given what I mentioned at the start of the thread,do you think that the PFI into looksmart is going to generate decent traffic from MSN?
How many pages to pay for is food for thought. Our keywords are pretty competative,we do reasonably well at Google(some first page SERPS) and so on.
This is one area where we are weak and I sure do not have time to become a Zealot.

As always, this forum is keeping me thinking. I love it.
Bye for now, Duhboy :)

Zeal would only help you if you have a non commercial site or Significant noncommercial content.

Youve not really given us enough information to effectively comment on whether you can expect significant traffic from MSN and LookSmart. Same for what traffic would come from pay for inclusion pages.
