Hi,

I have just finished my first commercial Website for a Tax consultants. They are pleased with the results but are pressing for a search engine listing (preferably Google).

After trying for nearly 2 months to get the new site listed I have simply failed. I have tried using EZSubmit which tells me all is well and registering directly on sites eg Google/Yahoo etc but I still cannot find the site with any search engine.

Any help appreciated !

I am a long time programmed submitter. However, when it comes to the first submissions from a new client or fresh domain, I always do it by hand with IE. Google is very good about crawling new domains. If they haven't crawled the site since you submitted it, I could only point to the submission software as the problem.

You are on AltaVista under 'spencer fellows'. Brett is right though, don't use automated software especially for the 'big' SEs - it just isn't worth the risk of not being submitted properly, being down graded or even banned.

...thanks for the Info..

...just an obvious point here.. does it make any difference when I manually submit the site, whether there is a slash at the end or not? eg [spencerfellows.co.uk(...] ?

..or should I be specifying the page below also eg: [spencerfellows.co.uk...]

Paranoia is setting in I'm afraid...! I am probably already banned from most of the major sites....

Excellent, then you're likely to survive in this business.

as for the slash (/) at the end, I think the answer is 'use it' ...at any rate, I do, and I'm not banned. Well, not for the slash, anyway.

SMc,

Now is the time to assess where you are with this job, *before* resubmitting.

I'm in Google at last...!

Searching on "chelmsford tax" gives me a listing position 1 and 2, which is not bad considering there is a place called chelmsford in Massachusetts.

The secret behind the success ?...not hard work and perseverance, instead the guidance of a genius !

I've learnt some seriously useful lessons.

Now its time to re-read the "thou shalt not" list again...
