(page) Size matters?

Is anyone noticing the larger pages (40k +) doing better lately?
It started with a client who insisted on a long, drawn out mission statement full of fluff and hardly any keywords. The page submissions "bit" better than others and the page outscores some keyword rich pages in some engines (especially AV and Ink). It is also the only page that seems to "stick" in Ink.
Would this be some type of defence against the 5-10k doorways gone bad or am I imagining all this?
What's your experience?

Well, it definitely looks like big pages are doing better than they used to do in AV, though I can't quite guage just how well they are performing vs a smaller page on the same subject. Interesting.

I,ve just checked some rankings for a client and all his doorways are on page 1 most in the top 3, so yet again the search engines are trying to confuse us humans.

Their all around 12kb and all with java re-directs on which was something else I'd heard AV didn't like.

Hopefully their still be there this time next month.
