what is the point in limiting the time between visits of a spider?

and do they pay any attention to this?

I don't think any of them pay attention to this tag...

I think the point was to ensure that your site is spidered frequently for any updates to the site...

Hello james_gulliver. The robots revisit tag has never been supported by the major search engines that I am aware of. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Think about it, if you could control the revisit frequency of the spiders, what sort of abuse does that leave on the table? ;)

I've read enough SEO websites to know that there is a lot of misinformation out there about META tags and the robots tag is one of them. Some people think that it can't hurt to throw one in there. Well, its an extra line of code that is useless.

I remember way back when when I first started developing meta tags. My initial list was at least 20 tags long and I was looking for more. This was back in 1996 when SE's were indexing certain meta tags. Everyone was packing their <head>'s with tags for every little thing. Heck, some even got creative and implemented their own tags. I've seen some good ones! ;)

The revisit-after tag is as useful (and as well supported) as the position-me-at tag!

Have you tried these?

<meta name="Google_position" content="1">
<meta name="conversion-rate" content="90%">
<meta name="christmas" content="bmw">

;)

<meta name="BankAccount" content="$1000000">

seems to work quite well ;)

I guess the

<meta name="colossal_waist_of_bandwith"
tag is set to
content="1">
too?

Meta tags that are not dead yet are still burried. ©
