They optomize these pages for various search engines and terms, and quote guarantee in writing unquote to get you top ten listings on the key words you choose...
Is this "legal"? I have one competitor, I think uses something like that --- who we figure does twice the business we do....
Any thoughts pro/con etc...
Of course these good folks do this for a fee, a set up, and a monthly maintenance...
My question is, does it work? Are there more legitimate ways of accomplishing the same thing. We own several domains we only use as a re-direct --- and was wondering if we can optomize them, and have them as part of our site, in such a way as to take advantage of a more pecific home page key word rich place....
Our competitor seems to do that also, and obviously does well with it. You get his page on google, then right into his shopping cart if you click on an item....
Curious about all this without spending a small fortune... and am open to talking to anyone on this forum who does work like this also....

Many still promote, offer and rave about the wonders of doorways - problem is, traditional doorways don't work in the long run. To make them work, and keep working, they have to become content at which point they cease to be doorways.
Hosting them under other urls *can* work for a time. I'd be lying if I said they didn't - you can find them all over the SERPs. Thing is, they can be reported or identified relatively easily - especially if a human is reviewing it.

Legal? In the literal sense, sure. You can't take them to court for having doorways. But - most search engines have TOS against this practice. Most get *caught* eventually and then they have to start over. For some it's not a big deal - for others they don't have the time, money or experience.
Ultimately is a personal decision. I don't recommend it - esp not on another persons servers (this would fall under falsely boosting your link pop in google among other things).
There are other ways to generate business for your site (online and off) that work much better and provide better ROI.
