I was recently contacted by a sale's rep for Igetnet.com, he was trying to sell me on buying a key phrase ala the now defunct realnames, the exception being that they use proprietary software. Quite a few of the companies in my line of business have already bought some key words. I know that realnames was a bomb, and traffic was sparse to nada with keywords bought on it. I also think it’s a gross way to kill intellectual property that people have already put into getting domain names, for instance I could register webmasterworld.com as a keyphrase, so being aware of past failures and the debate of realnames being anti-internet and just plain sneaky. Does anyone have any information on conversion rates? Do any of you experienced gals/guy, who have been around the block before, know what the word on the street is or have a feel for this?
Thanks!
