I originally posted this in the affiliate forrum but i decided to repost it here to gain a little attention :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I was impressed by a old thread which suggested to partner with a offline industry, create online presence and drive traffic for them and get a big cut on the profits instead of promoting traditional affiliate programs.

I have found a big margin B2B service industry which i am very much familiar with and quite confident that i can achieve top rankings for its keywords . The issue is how you make sure you get your pie in the revenue.

The sales process is more indirect in this business. I guess the website will be basically generating targetted leads whoom with proper follow up communication will end in the sale/contract. Also repeat business and referrel business from the customer is also high.

The traffic for the concerned keywords are not much but since its a high revenue business getting 1 customer/month is a huge success .

I will really appreciate if you can suggest me a proper revenue sharing model for this business ...thanks

Interesting concept .. as the webmaster you can be aware of exactly who makes contact via the website or via email but to be aware of which of these become paying profitable customers you are a little at the mercy of your client being trustworthy.

Unless of course you take orders and paymement for services online and make this the preferred payment method. Then there would be less chance of someone at your client trying to pull a fast one on you.

Just my 2p, hope it helps.

I would say it partly depends on if you think you can trust the company or not. But even if you can, once you start to generate business for them, they might decide to cut you out, if you leave them room to do that.

I would set it up that the site is yours, if possible, or that you can track all of the leads or even "filter" them through you.

If you think the company is holding out on you, you can ask them for a status on all the leads you sent them. Best to let them know and get them to buy into this verification system. Leave it open at first, but have the tools you need in place to put some pressure on them if you need to.

Aside from the "audit" list, you can also contact the leads yourself to see what happened. This can also work for the client if you get feed back that their prices are too high, or they didn't call the lead back in a timely fashion. I would NOT let the company know you will have this ability, but you could, it might keep them honest.

Lastly, if you own the site and you think they're not being honest, you can threaten to send the leads to another company!

In fact, if the volumne grows, one company might not be able to take care of the business. Why funnel leads to just one company...?

Now that I've provided this *valuable* information... is there any chance you might share what the business is, if you are NOT located to close to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I am located? If not, that's cool. But if you wouldn't have to worry about me competing with you, maybe we could work together and corner the market...?

Just a thought...!

Good luck!
