Okay so here's the situation, I'm working for a company and part of my job is to set up a website and get it traffic. The issue is that my last day is Oct 15th and after I leave there will be nobody to aggressively promote the site. A similar site has been bringing in about 12-15 thousand dollars of income monthly, so it is forseable that this site will also bring in a lot of income, so it's might be cost effective to hire an SEO firm. However, the site is really a niche market and I haven't found any competition at all, so I'm wondering if it will really be that difficult to maintain good listings on search engines?
I've done a cursory look at SEO firms and some of them are very expensive, while others don't really seem to know what they are doing. I've worked in the web design industry for a while so I know there are a lot of hacks out there, so I'd want to establish a relationship with the firm before I left, to make sure I could trust they were going to do a good job. Do you have any suggestions on finding and evaluating a firm, and do you think it would even be necessary considering what a niche market we're in?
Thanks :)
In the time that I'm here I should be able to get the site up and search engine friendly, submitted to the big engines, request links from appropriate sites. I might not be around long enough however to see if the site actually gets listed, however I think somebody at the office could keep tabs on it and resubmit if necessary. On the other hand, if the website would need adjusting, I'm not sure who at the office would be able to do that.
Oh and just so there isn't any confusion, 12-15k wouldn't be all of our revenue. We are a CPA/law firm and the website would just be an extension of marketing efforts :)
