What do I do with sites I purchased that have Yahoo and other listings

I purchased some sites that have Yahoo, Looksmart, good ranking and good domain names and they are now pointing at my site. What do I do to prevent spamming the engines and irritating the directories?

Be careful with the pointing. Try to put up as much unique content as fast as you can on each of them and find creative ways to link to your main site or just it's order form page etc...Personally, I would quickly get up a few pages for each not caring too much at first how they are going to connect to my main site (if that is the plan) because time and your competitors are your worst enemies in your situation and either one of them could quickly wipe out any investment you have made so far on these domains/listings.

If you purchased the *sites* and just have links to your site, that's probably fine with everybody. On the otherhand, if you purchased just the domains & are using a redirect to send visitors from those domains to your site, you'll likely lose the directory listings if you're found out.

For example, ODP guidelines are that the end of a redirect is to be the linked site. So if www.oldsite.com redirects to www.newsite.com, oldsite should not have an ODP listing at all.

For the SE's, a 301 redirect will likely pass the link pop from oldsite to newsite.

Good luck,

The sites are just like mine and have good domains and directory listings and full of content but they do not carry my full line of products. Should I put site "X" was purchased by site "Z". Click here and enter "dis5" for 5% off your first order.

As long as the content is not exactly the same as your first site, it should be fine. I would not put up site "X" was purchased by site "Z", instead I would treat the new sites like they are affiliate sites and get creative with any links.

Explain that please. I want all the sale to come from my original site, as I do not want to update numerous amounts of information on each site all the time.
