Is it good or bad i dont know for sure but i think ppc are sometimes destroying the market.
There are so many good sites that cant effort the cost of it. The results of it is not rellevant with the search you do, sometimes is the search a proof of how much money the company got.But in many examples its very sheap marketing if you are tageting a combinated search i mean a double word like football sweden or something like that.
PFI
Here i think is a fear play you could get in for free but it will take longer time, if you pay your in the db in 48 hours.
What do you think about this is it bad or good?

PPC: I think that pay-per-click search engines have their good points and they bad points, but currently, I think they have more good than bad. For example, let's look at Overture. If someone sells "widgets" on their site and is looking to quickly market their product directly to their customers, Overture is a fairly good medium. They would have the ability to test their listings to maximize ROI, click thru rates, and conversion rates. The one thing that saves PPC from getting on my bad side is that the numbers show that most search engine users know the Overture listings (sponsored listings) from the real search engine results.
All in all, I think that as long as Overture remains to be an additional search engine marketing medium, than it is okay.
PFI: While some hate pay-for-inclusion programs, I tend to like them. Just as you pointed out Ove, you do have to deal with putting up the cash intially, but you are assured that your listing will appear in 48 hours. The problem with some of the programs (Inktomi) is that once you have a paid listing, either your free listings are dropped, or your chances of getting free listings disappear. The ideal PFI progam that a search engine would offer would follow the same guidelines as the current programs out there, like Inktomi and Infospider, but would still index free listings after they crawl the paid listings. Some may think that the free listings will never get into the database as the spiders will be too caught up with crawling the paid listings first, but I and many others have had sites listed in Inktomi for free.
PFI programs can help tremendously, but they have be done right. We are promoting and marketing websites, and there is no other marketing or promotion field or niche that is entirely free.
