Is this a valid method of optimisation?

Cloaking or not?

Hi,

I recently came across this method of site optimisation, perhaps its an old trick, I'm not sure but would like some feedback as to whether its a legit method of optimisation.

Basically, you have a site www.widgets.com, and you purchase a URL for it e.g.www.blue-widgets.com. Then you build a mini-site around the 2nd URL, optimised for your keywords, but this is not visible, because you use frames and reference the frameset using a .js file. Hmmm. Not sure if I'm explaining that right. In one sense, you're serving up different content to the search engine than to the user. Then again, you're not using IP addresses and cloaking.

So is this a valid method of optimisation? Has anyone heard of this trick or am I way behind the times!!

Thanks

It's just low rent cloaking. Works ok. The problem is there are so many off the page criteria to rankings these days, that you are better off putting your best effort into one site.
