What has everyone found to be the best method to name your pages for effective search engine promotion?

I have used "name_name.htm" - but was wondering if "namename.asp" or "name-name.htm" would be more effective.

Let me know,

I've read somewhere, that is a trend developing that actually reviews the relevance of the file name to the site. For Instance if you site names was Blue Widgets of Omaha, and you wanted to sell Blue Widgets, one page might be titled blue_widget.htm, or something like that.

I can't remember where I read it, be when I look at some of the url's I do see evidence to this.

It always helps to name your images, directories, subdomains, pages, etc. according to your target keywords.

The trick and key is not to be excessive. It will trigger a filter if you have:

domain.com/keyword1/keyword1-keyword1.htm

When you are naming, think of a human reviewer, or ask yourself if it looks like keyword stuffing or spam.

domain.com/keyword1.htm
domain.com/keyword1/keyword2.htm

The above 2 will be fine and help with the SEO.
