My site is getting quite a lot of hits from google. Do any of you think it is worth the money to submit my site to looksmart, inktomi and yahoo. Another webmaster tells me he gets little traffic from these se's.

To quote from Webmaster World Forum Index:

Yahoo
Cornerstone of the net. Difficult listing, but worthwhile listing.

Looksmart - I have no expertise there, but you will find LOTS of postings on this board regarding their recent change to PPC. Just do a site search for Looksmart.

About Look Smart. We have advertised several of our E-Commerce sites with them and had few results. The problem lies with the re-write that takes place by their "knowledgeable editors" of our ad copy. We own a domain registration company that has been online for 4 years and serves clients in 52 nations world wide. We are located in New Orleans. The editors re-wrote the detailed and informative ad that we submitted which offered domain registrations, hosting services, web design tutorials, shopping carts, and mentioned our experience, etc, to only read that we are a "Louisiana based domain registry" site and that's it. The ad does nothing to inform their searchers of our services. They also ignored our request to change the wording of our ad to better reflect the services offered. But shortly after that we received their offer to allow us to change the ad for a cost of $49.00. I do not suggest using them. Barry L. Brumfield USDomainRegistrar.com

Mike,

a mandatory coverage of the net.

1 * Yahoo listing
1 * Looksmart listing (includes partners MSN, Iwon, AV, so on and so on).
1 * ODP listing (appropriate cat - this can matter a great deal).
all the freebees > alltheweb. wisenut. etc.
Ink listings * section pages, or all pages, dependant on budget.
Possibly overture listings.
Extremely relative industry related portals (business directories)

this is basic coverage, it can do alot for some, if site design, content, struture and linking programs are affective SEO wise.

why did you post here ? should you have not posted in search engine promotion ?
