Why am I invisible?

I almost hate to ask this question. I'm not really interested in being in the first few listings of a SE on hundreds of key words, but I would like to know why I don't show up when I type in the title if the site.

Even google! I used to see it there, but not any longer.

The last time I was concerned about SE placement was when I bid on a spot at GOTO.com and have since avoided worrying about paying for Yahoo or MSN listings. I do my own marketing and as another post suggested, people will find the site when they need to. I'm not counting on massive amounts of random traffic.

But I think it's more of an ego thing - if I put in "Charms Music Office Assistant" in Google, I would hope to find my site.

TX,

don't no the site also has no PR in Google, and for a 4 word phrase, you should certainly be coming up in the first 5 targets, even if you losely targettted it in that industry sector. I can't find your site in Google under the URL.

Google doesn't have even one inbound link to your site.
Google link search [google.com]

They have cached the page for demo.asp - but that demo page has no out bound links into the rest of your site.
Google search [google.com] for all pages containing the text of your domain name.

It's links - you need a couple.

Thanks Ted, I'm not sure what you mean by needing more links.

That page has lots of links to and from it.

The outer site has about 12 pages or so, each with complete navigation systems.

I could understand if the inner ASP pages don't show up.

I used to see it at the top of Google when I used all four words.

txbakers, looking with the phrase in quotes [google.com] also yields just that one .asp page.

Is it possible that your server was down for a period of time in the month of January? Since Googlebot doesn't get all the pages from a site at the same time, maybe your site was down once when it came by for the default.htm page, but was up when the "demo" page was crawaled. Just a thought.

TX have you been bad? :)

I did a url search on Google, Fast, AV & Ink and I came up empty.. looks like either their banning you or your banning their spiders....

I use Copernic and it also came up blank.

I was having server problems in January, but not with that site. That was with the mysterious CGI errors.

Curioser and curioser.....

Google needs at least one or two links that point from from another domain into your site. Right now they don't have any in their index at all. Have you tried for an ODP listing? That would work wonders.

tx

You mention you have some inbound links, but to get your site into Google successfully, some of the sites linking to you need to be in Google themselves.

Might be worth checking to see if the sites linking in are in the Google db - could be your problem.

I'd wait until after this update (if it happens) and see what you end up with tx.

Open Directory Project [dmoz.org]. We've got some good threads here on preparing to submit.

If it happens ? Something I missed ?

TX..this maybe nothing..I agree with the others about the lack of incoming links...but the headers on the index page and all other pages I checked (faq, features) are different to the demo's page, the only page indexed by Google.
All pages except the demo page have double content-type declarations and a strange accept-range without a number.

The other pages in your /charms/ folder may be seen as duplicate content. (not linked to, I got there accidentaly)
