Dear all,

I was wondering whether there was any FREE technology for hiding/encrypting PHP code on the server - such that server administrators cannot look at it and perhaps distribute it. I am aware of "turck mmcache" which looks brilliant. The thing is - boy is it complicated to set up and this complication does not lend itself well to my being on a virtual server where I do not have extensive admin permissions. Does anyone know a solution more appropriate for PHP code on a virtual server (apache)? Would be so grateful for any pointers.

I'd hate to think anyone here would have to worry about their host's techs stealing their code. :-\

Either you should get a new host or become your own if you really think your code is really that badass. I did some searching and initially didn't find anything though I'm sure someplace you can find what you're looking for. I'm sure it would put some extra load on the server though.

dont think my code is that stratospheric - just would like to put some protection to it if I there is a quick and easy way of doing it. Thanks for searching - really appreciate it. Would be really great if anyone out there knows of any tool/methodology along these lines.

I believe ioncube's encoder is designed for distribution of encrypted php code. It may be what you are looking for.

ioncube encoder looks perfect. But the price tag....! Such a shame cause it really does look the thing.

ioncube has got a per-script web service for encoding stuff without buying their whole package, you can get your stuff encoded for about $50 or so I'd guess.
