Calculate Bandwidth Usage

Is there a way?

Hi. When a user registers to my site, I give him a folder to create his web presence (free hosting). Is there a way to calculate the traffic usage of his folder contents? They could be anything from text files to movies and flash.

Thanks.

Are you trying to predict the bandwidth they will be using based on the files in their folder? If so good luck.

I'm assuming he's just trying to track bandwidth for each user. if this is the case. there was a post like this a couple weeks ago... easiest way.. just build a php script that acts like a gateway and basicly just reads the files from the server and spits them back out to the web browser... and track its size in a db.. really shouldn't be that hard to do.

Yes, you could have the users call a php script instead of the file itself. Or, why not write a script that reads the http log? It gives the size of each file transferred.

Thanks. I think I will go with the gateway file :)
