Looking for simple events calendar script

Does anybody know of a simple easily customisable events calendar script.
Preferably something without lots of complicated calendar view stuff.

Calendar scripts are somewhat tough since there are indeed tons of them and most aren't worth much.

I've played with a bunch and never found one I really liked. There are some projects at sourceforge.net that look promising depending on needs. These two searches will be more focussed than a general google search:

I don't give any personal recommendation, since I haven't tried it, but the k5n webcalendar at sourceforge looks pretty good from the demo and, of course, it is OS, so you can always fix what you don't like.
