Hi all,

Has anybody got any real world experience of
using the Db.php database abstraction layer for PHP.

In particular :-

  • Does using it add significant overhead to a large traffic site?
  • Has anybody experienced problems distributing applications to PHP installations that don't have Pear set-up?
  • Is it worth the effort to support multiple databases in this way?
  • Whats the lowest version of PHP that Pear can run with?

Thanks in advance for any advice / comments.

Never used Pear yet. You may try on [php.net...] general mailing list (or prehaps there is one for Pear now as well) .. searching through the archives of that list is also wonderful resource...else posting it on that list is very likely to be helpful.
