I made a simple change to a file and now it doesn't work. I changed 'a' to 'the boring' and got a parse error. I changed it back and it is still broken.

The error is:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/rebelhe/public_html/shop/includes/languages/english/index.php on line 13

Here is the offending line (the >>a<< is where I made the change):

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is >>a<< default setup of the osCommerce project, products shown are for demonstrational purposes, <b>any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed</b>. Hi biggles_0,

I copied and pasted the code into my text editor and run it on my local server and it gave me no parse errors. Sometimes the error is actually on the line before, so check line 12.

Hi and thanks.

Line 12 is actually blank. Here is the whole thing:

I know almost nothing about PHP syntax so I have no idea what the problem is. Also, I am getting the same error in line 21 now. I must have fixed line 13 somehow.

Wow, you're in and out of single quotes all over in the second argument of your define. I'm not sure that can be done in a define statement like that.

Did you change any "s for 's?

just weird how it's throwing that error on the line with a single quote, as before (12)

Have you tried getting a new copy of that files from the zip source and replacing it? That may be the easy route... Provided it doesn't overwrite any other changes ;-)

I didn't make any other changes I'm aware of. I will just get a fresh copy of the file.

Thanks
