Hello

I have a fresh debian install on my AMD 800Mhz box.

The website I am creating seams to run fine and fast but phpMyAdmin is real slow.
What could be the reason for that?

Try a different browser...hehe That might sound silly, but phpmyadmin crawls or doesn't load when I use IE. I use NetScape 7.1 for that since Firefox makes all form fields really small (at least for my installations of FireFox).

You just made me start my IE :(

;)

Anyhow I can't see any real speed differance between FF & IE in this case.

well, sorry it didn't help, was hoping it was only a browser issue and not server related ;)

Probably PHPMyAdmin has to do a whole lot more than the site script - in general, administration parts of scripts are slower because they do more stuff.

If it's a fresh debian install and you don't mind re-installing, you might consider trying beatrix, which is sort of a light-weight Debian that's meant to be easy to install. It helps 'older' systems work faster.
