Why is PHP referred to as personal home page? I have read this several times, but yet to find a reason.

Yeah, you often see this in stuff on PHP. Comes from Rasmus Lerdorf's first release of a ssi language 'PHP/FI', Personal Home / Page Forms Interpreter, in '95. Many of the sources are probably just citing other bad sources, or just got the story of PHP's history mixed up with its name. But they're a bit outdated. See [be2.php.net...] .
