"customize your pc" type script

I am looking for info on creating a script that can act as a 'customize your pc' type page, like many computer manufacturers have on their site. They allow visitors to select components from drop-down boxes, updating the cost, etc.

Does anyone know of any good links or info on this? Or maybe there is a name for this sort of thing I can search for? Thanks.

Edit: I am not really looking for a shopping cart solution. The purpose of this will simply be to get a quote they visitor can bring in to the store.
