php - mysql forms

Hi I am "trying" to learn how to manage an database using an php interface.

I have the database done with itīs tables,
and I have one page with an select of one table, on that page there is an link to modify each id on that table,
everything work just fine, until I try to put an select for that id, update it with an form and send it.
separately everything works fine, just canīt put all together.
Any good (working links, several has error on) links to manuals.
Iīve been 2 days trying and I am going crazy.
