I need to make a large bunch of small changes to php templates in a WordPress site someones built and cant finish, fairly rapidly and accurately.

I've only ever done php code in notepad way back for ebay sales integration etc, this is going to be more look and feel changes and working to format/present data fields from the word press data model. The code I have been sent old school style HTML/PHP intertwined on a single page.

What free editor would you recommend that will give me (a beginner) basic code layout, some intellisense / auto-complete etc, ideally a design view and debug tools but they are not essential etc.

I normally use VStudio 2013 for .NET - it works but it doesn't help much with php

Thanks

I think Webmatrix will do some of what you want. It's free.
Eclipse - Free
Rapid PHP - low cost $39
