Ok this is a bit of a long shot, but I thought it was worth a try! I have been using the PHP/.htaccess
spider trap from Birdman [webmasterworld.com] since it was posted back in 2004.
Everything had been working fine, the htaccess file was being ammended, you then got blocked from visiting the entire site, great.
However recently my shared server has been upgraded to PHP 5.3.0, where I was using 4x before. Now this might not be the cause of the problem, and it could have been broken for a long time, but I can't seem to figure out what is going wrong. I tried to troubleshoot, but not getting anywhere fast.
Don't suppose anyone would like to hazard a guess? I haven't been around here for a long time, so have missed the latest posts. Has this technique been improved since then, or is still the best method of doing this?
