Php or Javascript Forms

I am a bit torn between php and javascript forms.
I would really like to use just php but didnt know
the cons and pros. I would like just a basic contact menu with Name, Email, Reason, Message and for it to submit to a popup window that says thank u or you forgot to add email and so on.

i used a cgi formmail script and it seems to work but really am interested in php forms. Any feedback or direction where to go for this type of script? I know its rather simple but it always seems to get tricky when i want popups.

you can use any php form gateway script and make it open in a new window.
