trying to teach myself PHP and failing....
i saw this page and thought i would love to have something like it on my page. i like the idea of having an image and a choice of other images to add to it. i also like the idea of the user being able to add their own text to the image. but i can not figure it out. this page made me want to learn PHP and GD Library but i am stuck. can someone hold my hand and walk me through the basics of this. please. the site i speak of is here..."http://thetural.com/360/"

Tutors don't usually work for free.

Listing external urls is deemed as flaunting of the basic TOU of this website.

If you google php tutorials, there are numerous results thrown at you and you should be on your way to learn php fairly easily.

But...before you even do the php walk, try to instal php on your machine so you know what you are working with.

Hello laconic187 and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You did pick a little more advanced area to start learning PHP in image processing. But don't let that stop you because once you get a grip on the process it is very powerful. There are quite a few books about PHP and Image processing too, besides the online tutorials mentioned. And don't forget the PHP online manual page for Image Processing and GD [php.net].

This is also a good place to start [w3schools.com] though it doesn't cover image processing much. Get the groundwork down and the more advanced stuff will bloom from it.
