Hey guys!

I am taking on a large task. That is I'm trying to create a log in system on my website. I've made it farther than what I thought but ran into a issue. I have no PHP knowledge (other than the few things I picked up doing this). I downloaded a zip file of a login system. I got it going on my site and so here is the problem.

My question all summed up is: Where is the submit button for logging in taking or running the user to?

There are a ton of different script files. The log in and register both have a submit button obviusly but I don't know what it is doing when you click it. It did make an account despite going to a unknown page so it is working. Here is the line for the button:

<input type="submit" value="Login" class="btn" ></td></tr>

There is no link or anything it is running! Can anyone help me out? I can provide more info if need be.

Oh and I have a feeling there will be plenty of more questions from me!

Thanks!

Oh ok I have discovered the script I believe it's running when login is pressed:

I still can't find where the login and register buttons are redirecting you to in the file. Is it returning you to the original page? If it is, it's not the right page it's going to!

Submit buttons are enclosed in <form> </form> tags.
<form action="page_where_this submit_button_is_going">

Also, you have three included files.

include("database.php");
include("mailer.php");
include("form.php");

You'll need to check out these files as well.

You might want to start off a little slower, if you don't know PHP classes will be a bit beyond you at this point. To answer the question, the form and where it submits to is most likely here,

include("form.php");

and is processed here,

include("mailer.php");

and the actual values of where things are submitted, etc. are likely stored and extracted from a database and managed from here.

include("database.php");

Ok I'm back! I went through all the scripts and familiarized myself with them.

Here is the script that redirects you:

<?

I can replace these lines:

if($retval){<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;header("Location: ".$session->referrer);<br>
}

these:

if($retval){<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;header("Location: somepage.php");<br>
}

but I don't want to do that because you need the referrer if the user messed up on their password. I don't want to hard code every thing to go back for an error.

The problem I'm having is the referrer line isn't working. How do I go about this?

Update:

I found this piece of code:

/* Set referrer page */
if(isset($_SESSION['url'])){
$this->referrer = $_SESSION['url'];
}else{
$this->referrer = "/";
}

/* Set current url */
$this->url = $_SESSION['url'] = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
}

I think it's supposed to set the current page as the referrer. Does anyone know why it isn't working? Or why it is setting the wrong page?

Thanks!
