Configuring mysqli on a linux server?

Hi i am running, "PHP Version 4.3.9"
on "System Linux easytalk1 2.6.9-22.0.1.EL #1 Thu Oct 27 12:26:11 CDT 2005 i686 "

I need to move all my websites to this linux environment from a windows environment the problem is that i used mysqli rather than mysql to do all my database communicating...

how do i install mysqli in this environment?

thanks but that didn't work i kept getting,

-bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

even when i navigate to the right directory, it appears to be that time, frustration o clock!
