Membership management script recommendations

I'm looking for a basic membership management script. I know there are tons of options out there so does anyone have any recommendations?

Basically I need to have a generally viewable area plus a members only area for full details, but no need for any pay options.

Well I was hoping for a quick and easy solution, but I will write one if I can't find a good solution.

there aren't many that are stand alone, they are ususlly rolled into a software package. If you already have software on your site then you are probably best to roll your own anyway. They are fairly simple to put together.
