Any ideas?

Hi,

I’ve been with my current employer for quite a while now – starting way before I learnt web development and PHP programming, which was a role I kind of just fell into due to personal interests.

I recently applied for a PHP web developer position at a more local company and was asked to provide some code samples, something I wasn’t prepared for in all honesty and something I couldn’t provide at the time.

I’m not amazing at PHP but I am applying for an 'intermediate' role. Any ideas for any scripts I could write to show an employer?

Get to know the company. Look at their site. What does their site need?

Write a sample script that fills some need in the company. It does two things, indicates you're actually interested in the company itself and applies your knowledge to their operations.

'S what I'd do anyway.

Thanks rocknbil, although I'm far too lazy to write serious code each time I see a job I'd like to apply for :p

Was hoping for some more generic ideas...

Take rocknbil's advice it's Really Good...

(You can always use it as 'a generic sample' somewhere else if you don't get hired by this company. The worst it'll do is add some code to your library that you can use next time you get put on the spot.)
