Hi guys,

don't know where to post this.. but, I guess here is better than anywhere..

im a bit stuck.. looked everywhere for information.. nothing really that my mind can grasp, just giving me a headache.. and, my host provider doesn't offer much help on their knowledge base.. so still waiting for their help..

My host offers shared ssl free.. but, I went through their process generated keys, csr, and something else.. when I did this.. It created a /ssl directory where these generated codes are stored.. it generated files like /ssl/mysite.com.key

but, thats as far as I have gotten.. I don't know, how to put the ssl on pages.. I've never used ssl before, complete newb..

Im not trying to collect data from users, plan on not even having users.. just need secure connection for my php codes and data, the cert doesn't need to be trusted.. so, if the whole site was ssl secured, that would be okay..

--------------------

I just don't know, if you code the ssl to each page, or use .htaccess for a directory, and then that directory it is automatically secured.. or what..

I don't know where to begin on how to get the pages to use ssl.. thanks.. and the pages will be in .php if that matters..

If your host offers a shared free SSL it's usually accessible by something like:

hostdomain.com/~YourCpanelUsername/

Then all you have to do is to link to this like:

[hostdomain.com...]

No .htacces editing is needed. No SSL generating/installing either (since it's already been done by the host).

yep.. you were exactly right..

I came into this thread to say, i figured it out, but looks like i would have figured it out sooner..

looks like my whole site is linked in the [host.com...]

I don't know, why they couldn't have added that somewhere on their site.. I tried every version of [myhost.com...] obv didn't work..

thanks..
