What's these errors mean in fsocketopen?

i'm trying to use fsocketopen() to stimulate a "submit click" to post a form in a remote server.

But like using CURL, i see a lot of error msgs like this:

fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource

fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to www.example.com

php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known

Does anyone know what it means? I'm using a php server provided by my ISP, I'm not sure if they lock up these functions or my code has a mistake?

Could it be your ISP's proxy settings? Set proxy up with curl_setopt?
