mediawiki #if help

not working

Well I recently installed wiki on my server and I've created a template thing for one of my tables. Example:

{{Gametable
¦name=Wii
}}

I wanted to use this:

{{ #if: {{{name¦}}} ¦ name is defined and non-empty ¦ name is undefined or empty}}

which I got from their site but it doesn't seem to be working. I assume there's a variable or something I have to set to true but I can't find it.

Wasn't sure which forum to post it in, but it uses PHP so...

Any help would be great!

I run a wiki with mediawiki, probably a dumb question but I take it you HAVE created the tempalte page called 'Gametable'?
