Any recommendations for a flat file forum script?. Just want the most secure script, with the most features, that doesn't use MySQL. And free.

Am I asking too much? [grin].

No MySQL? The choice is limited. YaBB looks pretty reasonable and has been around for a while, and unless I'm mistaken it uses flat files not MySQL. However, it uses Perl, not PHP.

Thanks for that. I've heard of YaBB. It's been around for years.

I found MyUPB. It's the only flat-file PHP one, that's been around a while (it's at version 2.2.1).

Just had a notion that it would be nice to have a secure forum you could just unzip and CHMOD somewhere.

Any forum software that I can think of that uses MySQL has an install script that does all the "installing" for you automatically. If you are looking for ease of installation, don't limit yourself to just flat files because the DB software isn't any more difficult to set up.

The 'most secure scripts' usually aren't freeware for various reasons ;)
