I was wondering if someone could help me with this as I just cannot figure it out. I have a heck of a hard time remembering birthdays in my family. So what I have in mind is a subdomain that I will give everyone in my extended family and they can choose which branch of the family that they want birthday reminders for. So then the system would email them only when someone in the branch of the family that they selected was having a birthday in that month.
So for example, say person1, person2 and person3 enter their information. Person1 wants to know birthdays for surname1 while person2 wants to know about birthdays for surname1 and surname2, while yet again person3 wants birthdays for surname1 and surname3 but NOT surname2.
Again, completely lost here. I have it to where it either emails everything or nothing!

I assume you use a database
I would start by 1 email per surname and go from there. You need to store it so you can select the emails for everyone watching that sirname and send the list to them.
If you want a single email to each person then you will probably need to do it for each user individually.
