Ideas for the Google Summer of Code 2008

Here is the current list at php.net of the ideas for the google summer of code projects. Some of them are interesting; others I find not particularly useful. If there are any of you with too much free time during the summer and feel like you can contribute to a significant php project, why not submit your idea? ;)

Thanks for posting this, eelixduppy. I was out updating The GIMP the other day and noticed it was on the ideas list for 2008 [code.google.com]. I was then going to go review the PHP projects listed this year but forgot. It's a great opportunity for any student to contribute to open source projects and throw a few bucks in their pockets. I know Moodle was on the list last year and I had an opportunity to do some development in that system recently. It is coming along nicely and they are up for ideas again this year. And that's just one option, there are plenty to choose from!

You considering it yourself?

I would love to contribute to a project of this sort, but I am not sure yet what my summer holds for me at the moment. If not this year, I definitely want to participate in something before I get out of college.
