Following on from my other post, what is the best way to find a PHP developer. Looking for someone to basically sit and code for me, and hopefully together we can make something magical.

Would your recommendation be to go to a local design company (day rate in Brum is around £500) or maybe contact local IT agencies and find and employee ( a bit of a headache having to set up payroll etc).

What have you guys done?

We are PHP developers here, so we generally don't do the looking ;)

We have a commercial exchange [webmasterworld.com] forum where some developers offer their skills, so you might want to keep an eye out there.

You are probably best off looking for someone local, however. There are usually freelance developers around that would be glad to help you with your project. Look around your area, call up different companies and get information, post signs in store fronts--whatever it takes. Worst-case senario is you have to hire a 'professional' design company to do the work OR you have to learn to program PHP yourself. :)

Good luck and welcome to webmasterworld
