We are investigating a php platform, and the best candidate we have internally to assist in this prohject has no php experience, onlly asp & .net.

Generally speaking, how difficult is it for someone to learn php coming from a Vbasic, ASP, javascript background?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the php forum!

It's not hard at all; once you know a programming language it will come very naturally. Grab a book, and you should have the basic syntax down over the weekend.

Oh, and you might want to start here: [php.net...] php.net is your resource heaven

Happy learning! Hope to see you around these parts ;)

I'll second the fact it's easy to pick up PHP. What's more important is how good a programmer the candidate is, as you know you can get anything frow terrible to terrific.
