Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has ever used a "live assistance" feature.

User clicks on some link/button and opens up a small chat window with some representative from the company (if any is available).

Do you know of any such package?
Have you ever used one? And if yes, did you see any improvement on your customes?

Any php-apache friendly? A couple that i have found, are using .net :(

a 'php live support' search on sourceforge.net will give you tons of options. One open source and free i had used was from craftysyntax.com but the problems I experienced was slow communication as it is based on mysql database and not optimized for rapid response between support staff and customer.

also dont expect much help from the vendor as he asks for money to install this for you and therefore he doesnt bother to reply your technical requests :)

you can use a commercial one called 'live person'

YES , of course you can give a new PASSION to your website with live customers support I have personal experience with this and I had experienced a prominent change in my income due to the live support on my website.

With the commercial product, I'd caution that if there's an affiliate program for the site it's been known in some cases to over-write the affiliate cookies and make some people very unhappy (and very vocal), and some folks have a problem if they find out their "movements" on a site are known to a 3rd party.

My web host uses a JS app called Live Support and I've had no problems using it. It's bought or used monthly from what I understand, but it's my host's staff that responds - not any 3rd party.

Added: I've used it on the customer end is what I mean.

Live person is too costly for me to afford i havent used it much

Livechat now is good see it

Star develop live chat is also good and is one time purchase

HCL and Crafty are free to use see if you like those

Bold chat is also there not recommended though
