updating phpBB forum

how to update without loosing data.

Hello friends ...

i am running a phpBB forum version phpBB 2.0.20 & i want to update this to latest version ... can anybody help me to update my forum & its having s much errors in searching & all.

I dont wana loose any data ...

Hi YuviG,

Have you checked the help topics and forums on the phpBB website? I`m sure they have instructions on how to upgrade. Might be best to start there?

checkout phpbb.org they do have instructions on updating versions without losing data HOWEVER if you have made a custom template for you by directly editing smarty files then you might face few problems however if you have a theme in the theme folders then you can easily update.

Also I strongly suggest you to backup your db and files before trying to update so that in case of any mishap you can recover quickly, and if you have a busy site then first test updating on a testing area and then apply on the live site.
