Does anyone know of any php based search engine scripts that they've had good experiences with? I'm looking to build a vertical search engine.

Also, does anyone know of any channels or groups devoted to the topic of building your own vertical search engine?

There should be some scripts available at the script repositories: hotscripts.com, sourceforge.net, freshmeat.net, phpclasses.org, etc...

You should also be able to create your own. I'm assuming you are creating a site search? Maybe not? If you can use something like mysql we have a great thread titled developing mysql search queries [webmasterworld.com] which will get you well on your way to developing one yourself ;)

It's actually not site search that I'm looking to do. I want to index certain types of classified listings from other sites, the way that some do with job listings, thus a vertical search engine.
