Looking for a good chat script

I am in need of a seriously good live chat script. It must be PHP/MYSQL based and can either be flash or ajax. It has to have a good interface and the ability to private message users. Does anyone know of a good script? The ones on hotscript all seem terrible. Thanks for any suggestions :-)

How about writing your own? I seen a tutorial over at Zend that is currently into part 5 of a 6 part series on a PHP/AJAX chat solution. I didn't have time to take it in yet, but it may be something for you to consider. Have a look.

If you don't find your answer there you could search the open source sites like sourceforge, hotscripts and freshmeat.
