Good place to find php programmers?

Looking to re-do my website, need entrepreneurs.

After a few years of running my website, I'm now looking to revamp and upgrade. Since I can not understand for the life of me how to read asp.net code, I am now leaning towards php/mysql. I've done some php in the past but have never messed with a linux server or anything like that.

Do you guys have any recommendations on where one may find motivated php programmer/entrepreneurs to help with this re-vamp? Whether it'd be a particular online community site or my local college... any info would be greatly appreciated.

>>>or my local college

I'm sure if you posted a "HELP NEEDED" ad on some of the boards then you'll get someone who is willing to help you. If you are looking for entrepreneurs then colleges are the best place to look for talent.

Then again, you could always go back to php and do it yourself :)

True... I was just curious if there's now a hot spot where all the younger talents gather online. I will probably help out with the coding as far as inserting marketing tracking tags and stuff but the project is a bit too big for me to tackle on my own.

How about visiting the PHP website and looking for a user group in your area?

"younger talents"!

I often wonder why people assume youth is an asset when it comes to programming. It's a craft, and like all crafts it's something you get better at with age. Inexperienced programmers are prone to falling to pitfalls that old hands have learned to avoid.

(Of course, young hands may be cheaper in terms of salary, but as in most things you tend to get what you pay for.)

With 28 years in programming behind me, I may be slightly biased, of course ;-)

Believe me, if I could afford to hire senior programmers, I totally would. Having just had a bad experience dealing with overseas programmers, I would love to hire someone who is both competent and will work for partial ownership instead of pay. That is a lot to ask though...
