Hi,

I am thinking about upgrading my server to PHP 5 from 4. I wanted to make sure what are some of the things that might happen if i do migrate to this. Has anyone has such an experience and what problems might arise?

Thanks,
P@

Here's a couple links to get you started:

In my opinion, I think you should upgrade! ;)

Good luck!

There has been some discussion in the past on that very subject. A quick search turned up this past discussion on PHP 5.0 [webmasterworld.com].

I also think that you should upgrade, because you'll get many interesting advantages.

ok I guess I'll be upgrading then. But im not exactly sure how I can do this since I'm not too familar with this kind of thing.

Do I just submit a ticket to my dedicated server techs and have them upgrade it for me? Or do I have to figure it out myself?

I have access to the WHM section on port 2086 of my server. Is it done through there or through shell access?

And do i need to uninstall php 4 before upgrading?

Thanks,
P@

ok i gave the upgrade a try using the WHM.. and I got this error:

=============================
buildapache configured from Web Host Manager
Apache configured from Web Host Manager!
Invalid Configuration: php-516 blocks install because [MySQL 4.1.19 or 5.0.21 or later required.]

Please correct the conflicts and try again!
=============================

How and where do I goto install this updated MySQL version?

I'm not familiar with WHM or the upgrade process being used but you can find various versions of MySQL available for download [dev.mysql.com] at their site.
