Cut first string in a file

Hello world, i have many string in a file
and i need to cut first and save other there.
Is it possible to make only cut and close file? (not to get all content cut first string and then rewrite other content to this file string by string?)

A few lines from the data file would help create the regular expression you're going to need...So, post that up when you can.
