http connection failure - why?

trying to syndicate an rss feed

I would hope this is a really simple question, but I'm totally stumped.

I'm making a php page that syndicates blog links using rss feeds and magpie to parse them. All is well, but there is one feed (my own!) that doesn't work.

I always get a "HTTP Error: connection failed (1)" error. I tried pulling the exact same file from another website and it worked, so the problem is just that one of my sites won't talk to the other one.

It's not an anti-social site though, the feed has been syndicated on other sites in the past and works just fine in services like bloglines.

Does anyone have any idea why I'm getting this error?

To be honest I don't know why. Are they on the same box?

anyone else have any possibilities?

Well they are both hosted by the same company, but I think they are on different machines (different IPs). Is there anything I could try in the event that they were on the same machine?
